WARRI—PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Udu Constituency of Delta State House of Assembly in this year’s elections, Elegbete Moses Odibo, is to host a town-hall meeting to negotiate the resuscitation of Delta Steel Company, DSC, Ovwian Aladja, Delta State.

Odibo, following his affirmation as Udu PDP flag-bearer for the Delta Assembly poll, said the town-hall meeting billed for January 22, was intended as a precursor to an enlarged stakeholders’ forum to consolidate the growing campaign to revive the moribund DSC.

He said: “DSC, one of its kind in Nigeria, was leading an economic revolution in Nigeria and accelerating the local economy for the host Udu community before it went under and has failed to bounce back since its controversial privatization.

“Presently, it has stopped production for upward of three years. People to whom it was privatised are allegedly owing banks over N30 billion and they have abandoned the company, now taken over by AMCOM to recover the debt.”
