ABEOKUTA—The Ogun State Police Command has arrested nine suspected arsonists and summoned two traditional rulers in Ijoko/Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State over the violence which led to the destruction of a palace and some houses.
The monarchs, who were invited include Oba Lasisi Ogunseye and Oba Fatai Matanmi who are Onijoko of Ijoko/Ota representing Egbaland in the area.
It will be recalled that some suspected hoodlums had been on rampage in Ijoko Otta area of the state In connection with the lingering Onijoko Obaship crises and set ablaze some houses while several people were injured.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement, said that nine persons were arrested with arms and ammunition after allegedly setting ablaze the palace of Onijoko of Ijoko Otta , Oba Ogunseye .
According to Adejobi, “Following the recent crises that rocked Ijoko Otta town in Ado Odo Otta council of Ogun State, the Ogun State Police command embarked on proper investigation by going after the perpetrators of the crises that lasted for days and arrested nine suspects with arms and ammunition.”
