FEW days after the Lord’s Chapel, an area under the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Lagos Province 23, donated a street light to the Gbadaga community, the Province has donated a series of life-saving medical equipment to the neighboring General Hospital, Lagos as part of the church corporate social responsibility.
Some of the equipment donated include two Phototheraphy machines, two Suction machines, two Oxygen Concentrators, two Autoclaves, two Nebulizers, 100 Bed spread and 100 pillows amongst others.
Presenting the equipment to the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Idowu Daudu, the Pastor-in-charge of the province, Pastor Brown Oyitso explained that the gesture is in consonance with the mandate of the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye to impact the communities because government alone cannot provide all facilities.
According to Pastor Oyitso, impacting lives and reaching out to the less privileged is something the church has been doing with the objective of promoting good governance and complementing government efforts in its capacities.
The cleric enjoined Nigerians to do good and influence their community positively when it is within their capacity to do so, stressing, “we are here in furtherance to the instruction that our General Overseer gave to us that we should make our impact felt in our various communities, noting that government alone cannot provide all the social amenities needed by the masses.
“It is also part of giving back to the society apart from preaching the gospel. Our neighbour is that person who needs our help and we render such help,” he stated.
Receiving the equipment, Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Idowu Daudu, commended leaders of the church for the laudable gesture, acknowledging that the church had been of tremendous assistance to the hospital in the past.
He said: “The last time the church visited us they gave us washing machines and other useful materials but this time around they have gone a step higher by bringing in all these life-saving equipment and I do not understand what qualifies us for this generous donation.
I think we and our patients are simply lucky.
“When we were approached that the church is coming I gave out the lists of some of the things that we need and I am happy receiving these equipment because they will keep our patients alive.
We cannot thank you enough but one can imagine how these equipment will go a long way to save lives,” he said .
