ABAKALIKI—THE two-time Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Professor Chigozie Ogbu, yesterday insisted that he had no plans to resign his membership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for another political party.
Recall that members of Governor Martin Elechi’s cabinet, his brother in-law, Senator Chris Nwankwo, the 13 caretaker committee Chairmen, son of the governor, Chief Elechi Elechi, few members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and several party faithful, Wednesday, defected to Labour Party.
Ogbu explained that his leaving PDP would place a serious question mark on his hard-earned integrity and commitment to the party.
He called on all the political parties and interest groups involved in the 2015 general elections in the state to sheathe their swords and embrace peace and dialogue.
According to him, “as a loyal PDP member, I have no intention of leaving PDP for any other party.
“It will be contrary to, and a question on my hard earned integrity to be seen jumping from one party to another simply because I was denied an opportunity to be fielded as candidate.”
