ASABA—DELTA State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chike Ogeah, has described Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, winner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial primary election as a worthy flag bearer.
Ogeah, in a statement, said: “As was the case in the November 29, 2014 primaries into Delta State House of Assembly, the governorship primaries of the PDP held on Monday, lived up to the template of transparency and absence of rancour set in the earlier primaries.
“At the end of the exercise, Senator Okowa emerged victorious by popular vote. We congratulate the distinguished senator on his well deserved victory. With the Delta State PDP now through with credible primaries, we urge all Deltans to imbibe the virtues of tolerance and fair play exhibited by the contestants.
“We also commend all the contestants for upholding the party’s tenets of fairness, discipline, loyalty and camaraderie throughout the campaigns and actual voting.”
“That more than 20 distinguished Deltans, each eminently qualified to lead the state, took active part in the PDP governorship primaries is a testament to the confidence in the electoral process engendered by the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, governor of Delta State, who created a level playing field for the emergence of the people’s choice.
“This has proved that it is a bastion of the PDP and is primed to continue to sustain the atmosphere of peace and development in the coming dispensation.”
