DUTSE—The Controller of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Jigawa State, Alhaji Isah Idris Jere has said that over 33 female victims of human trafficking were rescued this year along Gidan Boka Plantation Road in Babura Local Government Area on their way to Europe for prostitution.

Parading three ladies arrested by his men in Dutse, Idris said; “It is part of our effort to ensure tight security at the border. These ladies were apprehended by our officers at the border patrol post along Gidan Boka plantation Road in Babura Local Government Area on their way to Libya and Europe through Niger.

“They are victims of human trafficking and so far this year we have arrested more than 33 of them. In fact our officials are up and doing to make sure that the menace of human trafficking is brought to an end.”

According to him, the command would hand the victims over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Human Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, for further investigation because surely, some body must be behind their travelling together.

Jere explained that the 33 ladies were from different states including Delta and Kwara but staying in Lagos, how did they meet, somebody must have assembled them together for the journey.
