Uyo—THE Special Adviser, Bureau of Technical Matters to the Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Etido Inyang, has said that Governor Godswill Akpabio’s victory for the Ikot Ekpene senatorial primaries on Sunday justified the confidence the people of the district reposed in him to ensure effective representation of the area in the Senate.

Inyang, who described the victory as well deserved and a reward for the governor’s commitment, hard work and efforts in strengthening the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the country, said that the victory was, therefore, not surprising.

He said: “The significance of the success is that right from the day he entered office, he has been up and doing. Even when people took him to court, he kept performing. When you are in an office of responsibility, you should be able to work to satisfy everyone and that is exactly what he did.

“The victory means a lot to us, for we have seen the result of hard work. We were not taken unawares by his success at the primaries.”

Meanwhile the state Chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, has described the senatorial primaries as one the most peaceful ever conducted by any political party in the state.
