Lagos—Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode at the weekend extended hand of fellowship to all aspirants he defeated in a landslide victory during the party’s primaries conducted at Onikan Stadium last Thursday, saying, “the victory is for all the aspirants”.

Meanwhile, APC chieftain in Lagos, Cardinal James Odunmbaku, yesterday, congratulated the former Accountant General of Lagos, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for his landslide victory at the primaries of the party, saying it was a well-deserved victory.

Ambode, a former Accountant-General and Auditor-General of the state between 2001 and 2012, urged all the aspirants to team up with him to ensure the party’s victory in the governorship election slated for February 28, 2015.

Ambode, who made the appeal at the weekend, noted that his emergence as the party’s flag bearer last Thursday “is a victory for all the aspirants, who participated in the governorship preliminary election hence, the need to build a united party.”

He commended all the aspirants for the robust effort they put into their campaign, which he said, showed the strength of the party given the energy and time the aspirants invested in marketing the image of the party through their aspiration.

The Lagos APC governorship candidate added that he had started reaching out “to all my brothers and sister, who pursued their aspiration with vigour and vision in the just concluded governorship preliminary election. My emergence is indeed a victory for all the aspirants.

“It was, also, a victory for our party. It was a victory for the people of Lagos State at large. It was a victory for democracy. We all need to work in the unity of purpose for the victory of our party in the 2015 general election.

“I have been calling them on phone one by one. I have started reaching out to enable them see that my emergence is not all about Ambode. I have been talking to them on the need to work as one indivisible entity,” he said.

Ambode canvassed the need to build a united party, which he said, required the input of all the aspirants in the contest in order to defeat those who had been threatening to take over the state in February 2015.

He acknowledged the landmark achievements of the administration of former Governor Bola Tinubu and the present administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola, which he said, had become a reference point in the country and outside.
