CHRISTIAN Association of Nigeria, CAN, has declared December 7, 2014 as a day of special prayers for victims of insurgency and other violence and enjoined all churches to collect a special offering for the victims.
A statement signed by the National General Secretary, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr. Musa Asake on behalf of the Christian community in Nigeria said “It was pertinent in times like this for all brothers in faith to reflect on the individual and collective lives of Nigerians vis-à-vis the challenges that we have all faced in the course of the year.”
It will be recalled that at different forums and on different occasions, CAN has urged Nigerians of different faith to pray for peace and the end to the insecurity plaguing the nation.
According to the statement, “CAN has undoubtedly remained the strong voice against the evil of Boko Haram and other vices in the society, condemning their acts and suggesting ways of countering them, to the appropriate authorities.”
