ABUJA—As the nation groans under the 50-day absence of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua from Nigeria, members of the House of Representatives under the auspices of Integrity Group, have assured that the Green Chamber’s debate today on the President’s health will be guided by provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
The Chairman of th caucus, Rep. Farouk Lawan (PDP/Kano) in a statement he issued yesterday promised the House will kick aside emotions and sentiments and follow the provisions of the constitution.
“I want to assure Nigerians that the House of Representatives will not allow emotions to guide our debate. We are going to be as passionate as possible.
“We will ensure that whatever we do will be guided by the provisions of the constitution. The issue of the stability of this country is paramount in our minds. We recognize the enormous responsibility on us as the representatives of the Nigerian people.â€
