WARRI — A member of the House of Representatives,  Daniel Reyenieju, has appealed to Nigeria’s government officials, specifically those in the executive and legislative arms of government, to avoid hasty deductions and pronouncements over the current diplomatic row between Nigeria and the United States of America.

The row resulted from the pronouncements of the United States on Nigeria over the recent involvement of a Nigerian in an alleged terror attempt in the United States.

Speaking to a youth group which visited him at the weekend in Warri, Reyenieju, who represents the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, noted that some of the pronouncements from govern-ment officials could further precipitate the present situation.

He called on all to allow the External Affairs Ministry handle the situation, stressing that “Nigeria is well endowed with both serving and retired diplomats and specialists in International Relations and Diplomacy, who could advise the federal government on the best way to handle the situation.

He noted that under such situation, “our experts must be brought on board, devoid of babble of contradictory pronouncements, such that have trailed the present diplomatic row.”

He said the Ministry of External Affairs should be the main channel of communica-tions on government positions, and all others and individual government officials, particularly ministers, should allow the External Affairs Minister to be at the helm on this issue.

He advised Nigerian youths to avoid foreign indoctrina-tions, such that have brought Nigeria into such international condemnation.
