By Kelechukwu Iruoma

IN a bid to redefine the real essence of the University and to recreate the University into a better citadel of learning, the Vice Chancellor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Joseph Ahaneku has called for total transformation of the University system.

This call was made at a one-day workshop organized for Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, Coordinators, Deputy Registrars and Faculty Administrative officers at the University Auditorium to kick start the 2014/2015 academic session and how to manage the academic system.

While welcoming the staff to the gathering to what he referred to as “elder’s forum”, the VC charged them to be committed to the transformation of the University. He also urged members of staff to make sacrifices in order to achieve the mission and vision of the present administration, stressing that the present administration is geared towards creating a first class university in the country that can be visible in the world and to serve as a reference point.

Professor Ahaneku also added that positive transformation can only be achieved through internal harmony, calling on all to work together in love and unity. He further charged staff to uphold the good image of the University with dignity through good working attitude, abiding by the University rules and regulation.
