Pepsi International, a major sponsor of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Competitions, has entered partnership with nine Nigerian Sports Writers to cover and report events at the on-going African Cup of Nations (CAN 2010) holding in Angola.
The partnership according to Mr. Mazen Al Masri, Marketing Manager, PepsiCo International involves part-sponsorship of the Sports Writers to Angola in order to enable them write quality stories on the championship. It would be recalled that PepsiCo International has been a worthy partner in football development in Nigeria and beyond. For two years running, it instituted and has been rewarding Most Valuable Players (MVPs) from the Nigerian teams participating in Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League competition.
The Pepsi Football Academy has also been a very good platform for discovering and nurturing Nigerian youngsters into talented football stars making wave in major leagues in Europe and on the domestic league including Nigerian National teams.
Three of such former Pepsi Academy students, Osaze Odemwingie, Onyekachi Apam and John Mikel Obi are in the Super Eagles squad in Angola. Only recently, Pepsi won the Sports Grassroot Supporter award in Nigeria organised by AIT.
