Junior tennis star Emmanuel Idoko has won the 2014 NNPC/Chevron Junior Tennis Masters.

In a thrilling and interesting final match played on the Lord Rumens Centre Court of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, the 17 year-old Lagos-based Idoko, defeated Niyi Olatunji in straight sets of 6-0, 6-4 to walk away with the giant trophy, tennis shoes, rackets, bags and additional freebies.

Playing before an almost packed crowd, comprising mostly of Secondary School pupils and top officials of the Chevron, Idoko, who turns 18 later in the year, did not drop a game in the first set, which he won 6-0.

Speaking to reporters later, Idoko said that he was excited he won the title

“I am really on top now and happy that today was my victorious day. The second set was tough because my opponent gave me a good fight but I am happy that I was able to withstand his fightback.
