As preparation continues for the 2010 edition of the African Movie Academy Awards  (AMAA) the organisers have said the December 31st, 2009 closing date for submission of entries will not be extended.

AMAA Director of Administration, Mr. Tony Ani said film makers in Nigeria and other parts of Africa who are interested in participating in the 2010 edition have up to the last day of the year to submit their works.

“We have decided not to extend the entry date for any reason. The call for entry has been done since october, about three months now. We are convinced 3 months is enough notice for film makers to submit their work. We are applying strict rule to ensure all delivarables are met. Before you know it April 2010 is here about four months away,’’ he said.

On the response so far, the Director of Administration said it has been great as entries have come from different parts of Africa. He also noted that there was coordinator in each participating countries and region that are mandated to coordinate and transmit to the head office in Lagos.

“The good news about the coming AMAA is that interest it is generating outside the shore of Africa. Africans in Diaspora are asking for participation and we have introduced a category to accommodate their work.
