Samsung blackberry enters, streamlines market price

With the entrance of  Samsung B7320 blackberry phone, there seems to be a shrink in the prices of blackberries  in the market.

There are indications that consumers now go for the Samsung blackberry phone as it has been observed that it has a favourable price regime in comparison to others.

A buyer, Mr Godwin Arume, a businessman,  said aatract to the new phone is premised on the low price, stressing that now people go for the new Samsung phone since it has the same features and capacity  like other berries in the market.
I think Samsung has done well by introducing the phone

Chief James Nwachukwu, Managing Director of Ogwo Transport company said that with the new Samsung blackberry he has been able to reduce his moving about as he can now stay in his office to send business proposals to his clients unless when required physically. “I think Samsung has got a good product here.”

However, it may have been  true in the past, but there are clear signs that change is afoot in this fast -moving and rapidly development of mobile phone industries.

Mobile memory solutions be they removable cards, high capacity SIMs or embedded handset memory are poised to take a key role in enabling the widespread introduction of advanced mobile services.

Driving this, is a realisation that without enough memory and smart memory solutions (including security and the ability to execute applications), the ability to deliver a satisfying user experience for content (video, music) consumption and services, user generated is severely limited.
However, memory is claiming a key role on the mobile scene, becoming a critical factor in enabling and taking the mobile user experience to the next level. Memory solutions are evolving not only in capacity (i.e. chasing after the latest microSD card, but also in functions.
These were some of the facts about Samsung’s latest phone Blackberry B7320, which the company said is  moving close to a state of perfect competition, particularly now that buyers dictate the pace, as  power has transferred from the sell to the buy, while noting that the new consumer is a demanding dictator.
He went further to say that Samsung has always been known for stylish phones, but observed  that the phone market is now shifting to business phones with messaging capabilities and qwerty keypad.

These reasons prompted  Mr. Peter Lee,  Head of Mobile Phones, Samsung Nigeria to say,  “Samsung is coming back strongly into the market because of the demand in business phones.
He observed that the concept of the humble and loyal consumer, tied to one product and an only vendor is about to die, whilst noting that knowledge is the consumers most critical resources; and consumers as  individuals, are the owners of their brains.
The study shows that 65 percent of the respondents said the price of N38,000 for the Samsung blackberry phone was worth the value of the product, while 35 percent said the price was on the high side compared to others.
The Storm Blackberry goes for N60,000, the Nokia Blackberry for N41,000. On performance, 60 percent went for the Samsung B7320 blackberry against 40 percent for others, even though some respondents described the Nokia blackberry as a “wonderful phone.”
While Samsung B7320 is working hard to outclass others, One area the new Samsung blackberry has not got it right in the perception of customers is in advertising and promotional activities of the brand.
It lags  behind looking at the way and manners other blackberry phones in the market are going about it.  Seventy percent of the respondents admit they are aware and could easily recall Glo, MTN, Zain and Nokia marketing communication tools on television, radio, the outdoor and other below- the- line advertisement and promotional items  compared to 30 percent who could recall Nokia’s campaign activities.
For example, some people interviewed said they may be switching over to using the Samsung blackberry since it has the same features like others in the market, reasons, some said may be because of the price.
Like Mr. Igho Ovie, a businessman and a user of the latest Samsung blackberry said, “I have used about two blackberry phones, there are not much difference, but only that I would like to see the Samsung type in different colours like; silver, black, purple for women, it is also a wonderful phone.”
Vicky Oruseme, a business woman said that the B7320 phone will make meaningful impact if the company spends more on advertisements to create awareness.
However, it will be difficult to imagine how a modern economy could function without mobile telephony as a number of recent studies have shown that the mobile phone market  is having a hugely positive impact on the economies of emerging market like Nigeria.
