WORRIED by the vacuum created ingovernment by the prolonged absence of President Umaru Yar’ Adua who is on his sick bed in Saudi Arabia, a group, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL), has said the only way to save the country from an imminent doom was to institute a revolutionary interim administration for the sole purpose of rescuing it from possible degeneration into a failed state.
Disclosing this at a meeting convened by the group, Dr. Tunji Braithwaite, a member of the group, said there is now an anarchic situation in Nigeria, pointing out that the constitution is being steadily sabotaged and eroded by some people in government.
“Today, there is neither a president nor an acting president in office. In reality and in law, there is a vacuum in governance. It is a fact that before the country got to this stage, governance in Nigeria was anything but responsible to the Nigerian people.
This is due to yet another fact that both the legislature and executive comprise, by and large, of unelected persons in the name of a charade democracy, which is a swindle on the entire citizenry.â€
He lamented that Nigeria, in the comity of nations, is now a notorious name even when the people constitute, generally, a caring and kindly disposed multi-ethnic commonwealth.
Braithwaite emphasized that time has come for all decent Nigerians to resist all forms of anomaly going on in the country with every fibre of their being.
