The Edo State government has commenced moves to get the Federal Government to provide funds from the Ecological Fund to deal with the problem of erosion in Auchi, Etsako West local government, area on a lasting basis.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole disclosed this at the palace of the Otaru of Auchi, Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe 111, during the 13th Auchi Day Annual Festival 2010.

According to Oshiomhole, the state government is working hard to get the Federal Government  to live up to its responsibility and provide funds from the Ecological Fund to deal with the erosion problem in Auchi.

He assured that as governor of Edo State, he would not rest until the Federal Government listened and provide not just the money but also ensure that the money is not provided for people to steal.

“We will ensure that the money is actually used to fix the problem of erosion in the community”, he noted.

The governor further disclosed that before the end of this month, bulldozers would be mobilized to Auchi community for the construction of a dual carriage road which will be completed with street lights.

According to him, “Auchi youths do not have to go to Benin to know that they do not have to go to sleep by 7pm. We would put light in the community and develop the roads”.

He challenged other traditional rulers in the state to emulate the commitment of the Otaru to the development of his Auchi especially in the area of peace.

“I congratulate His Royal Highness for being consistent in providing very progressive leadership, not only to the people of Auchi Kingdom but indeed to the people of our state and Nigeria in general,” he said.
