PORT HARCOURT— Ikwerre ethnic nationality has passed a vote of confidence in President Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Nyesom Wike in the forth- coming general elections, and called on them to declare their interest for the polls.

Ikwerre nationality, comprising all Ikwerre speaking communities in Rivers State, weekend, adopted President Jonathan and Chief Wike making their 2015 political ambition known. Governor Amaechi and Wike are indegenes of Ikwerre.

The occasion was a solidarity rally in Port Harcourt attended by illustrious sons and daughters of the land including Sergeant Awuse, Victor Ihunwo, Prince Igirigba and Kingsley Chindah among others.

The Ikwerre nation which is one of the major ethnic groups in Rivers State, said its support for President Goodluck Jonathan is unconditional, adding that his leadership qualities have won him their unalloyed support.

Coordinator of Ikwerre Council of Chiefs, Chief Paul Wonodi, who spoke on behalf of the Ikwerre chiefs said the people had mobilized for the two candidates because of their outstanding leadership qualities, adding that President Jonathan and Chief Wike should declare without further hesitation.

Wonodi said: “The Ikwerre people are encouraged by the leadership qualities of the President of the Country and the courage of our son, so we are calling on them to declare their intention for the 2015 election.”
