We won’t toy with Egypt, Agu

By Philips Adefioye
Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu has promised that their first match against Egypt at the Nations Cup on Tuesday would not be toyed with.

Agu told Saturday Vanguard Sports that  playing against the reigning champions would be a big task, but there are some things they would do check the defending champions, adding that matches between the two sides are always great.

“In football, there is always a new thing and in every team there is aalways one or two things to add. With this present team, we are looking forward to do the same thing we did in 1994 in Tunisia in Angola.

“I know that the players in this present team are also capable of doing Nigerians proud. They have proven that with time and by the special grace of God, Nigeria will excel,” Agu said.

Concerning the non inclusion of the home based players, Agu said that the chief coach has
the final say but added because of the short time to the tournament, one will understand that there
was no time for experiment.

“ Honestly, there was no time to work on the home based players to blend into the team if we want to be honest with ourselves. After the Nations Cup, there will be a lot of time to incorporate the home based into the team, but now any reasonable coach will not try that risk”.

Agu hinted that the three goalkeepers were in good form and they are ready to give their
best during the tournament.
