Late Igwe

LAGOS—Senator Annie Okonkwo, who represented Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Sixth Assembly, yesterday, joined millions of other eminent Nigerians to pay tribute to the late veteran journalist and Vice Chairman of The Sun Newspapers, Dimgba Igwe.
The Senator, who spoke through his Special Adviser, Mr. Collins Ugwu, commiserated with the Chairman of The Sun Newspapers, Dr. Orji Kalu, the Sun Publishing Company and the Nigerian media family, describing Dimgba as a consummate biographer with depth, sweet literary choreographer and a great enabler of ideas.
He said: “The shivering news of Dimgba Igwe’s death is yet to unnumb my nerves because the mortal reality is a grave hit to Nigeria’s diminishing conclave of superior and senior journalists, a denial of peace to a family with deep faith, a vicious incursion to The Sun’s foundation integrity, and an emotional blinder to The Sun’s creative family, my good friend Orji Kalu, and indeed his veteran ‘twin brother’ Mike Awoyinfa.
“Infact, words are lacking when hearts are grieving, because when a star dims on the Sun, its like an eclipse without notice. I hope this gives us comfort but I doubt. Adieu, our Dimgba.”
