By Monsuru Olowoopejo

Lagos — Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA, the agency handling the on-going expansion works on Mile 12-Ikorodu Road, yesterday, dismissed claims that the road could not be completed before the end of the year, saying, “the project will be completed and handed over as planned.”

The expansion process of the over 50-year-old road originally constructed by the Federal Government commenced in 2012, after the state government mobilised the contractor to site.

Managing Director of LAMATA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, who disclosed this at fifth stakeholders’ forum on the expansion works, in Majidun, Ikorodu, added that over 90 per cent of the expansion works had been completed so far.

Mobereola, who was represented by the Director of Public Transportation, Mr. Olugenga Dairo said: “The main project is the one everyone sees — the expanded road — and this will be completed at the end of this year. The project will be delivered to the residents of Ikorodu at 100 per cent.”

On the strategies adopted by the agency, the Managing Director explained: “We have deployed enough resources as we can on the project, to ensure that the expansion work is delivered as planned.”
