LOKOJA—Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State, yesterday dismissed insinuations that  the once rosy relationship between him and his predecessor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris had gone sour, saying the so-called sour relationship was being fuelled by opposition for political gains..

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Mr. Jacob Edi, the governor insisted that the continuous rumour of a frosty relationship between the duo was being instigated by the opposition aimed at pitching him against his predecessor for cheap political gains.

The Adviser who spoke in Lokoja when the officials of Wada Good Governance Support Group, WGGSG, paid him a visit, said no matter the level of attack from the opposition and Wada political enemies; the governor remained undaunted, but committed to the transformation agenda of his administration.

According to him, “Wada is on a transformation trip, and remained focus towards delivering on his electioneering promises. All these rumours do not in any way deter him towards ensuring that he lifts Kogi State to an enviable height. The governor does not want to join issue with anybody or group of people whose ‘business’ is to cause conflict, because Wada is a governor with human face. It is not that he does not have answer to all the attacks by those who feel offended by his emergence; but he has remained subtle knowing full well that he is only answerable to the citizen of the state and not too few who want to draw him to media war.”

The media aide said contrary to attempts to pull the governor down, the governor had become an enviable “brand in the State due to his good works and governance with human face that remained unparallel in the history of the State.”
The official of the WGGSG led by its chairman, Ali Yakubu, said their visit was among others to present a letter of condolence to the governor on the demise of his father, Pa Ejiga Wada who died at the age of 100.
