Taraba Queens chairman,  Mustafa Tahir has warned the Nigeria Football Federation and the women league board not  to allow the forth coming African Women Championship to derail the national League.

This is just as he lauded the national U-20 women team for making Nigeria proud at the FIFA World Cup in Canada, saying, “Falconets impressed me  with their outstanding performance. Despite losing the cup to Germany, the girls were marvelous and they gave  their best.”

While he welcomed the Super Falcons list issued by Edwin Okon for the up-coming AWC in Namibia, the club chairman  enjoined the Women Football League board and  the NFF not to allow the female league dip with the series of postpone d matches. Already, the league is five games behind due  to postponements at the instance of one of the teams. “We are not against players going to honor national assignments.

“They must note that the league is five games behind as the U-20 team was on in Canada. Clubs signed players to play competitions but when the league is put on hold because of one club, it really does not show we are moving forward.”

Asked if he has a preview of the list issued by NFF for the AWC, Tahir said no! “Though I have not seen  the  team list, I hope there is a balance of  players invited to camp and that it is not  tilted towards one club such that we are not going to deep into more postponement of matches.

I would like the authorities to keep this in mind to avoid clubs incurring costs for not playing the league as scheduled. It is my hope they are mindful of how it would impact on clubs if more  players are again picked from one particular club again for the Super Falcons. Since we are running behind the schedule of matches, the authorities must also map out a plan that ensures that we play our games with a view to ending the league on time,” Tahir stated.

Players such as striker, , Adisat Oshoala, who won MVP award in Canada, Uchechi Sunday, Ugo Njoku Loveth Ayila., Mariam Ibrahim, Uchechi Sunday, who featured prominently for the U20 team in Canada all wear the Rivers Angels colour to which Mustafa Tahir refers to. Incidentally these set of players have been again called up to the Super Falcons camp by coach Okon.
