Alleged Bill Board Damage: Rivers Police arrest LG boss

By Jimitota Onoyume

PORT HARCOURT—Rivers State Police Command has arrested  the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Omuma Local Government Area of the state, Mr Emeka Nwogu.

The state Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr Dickson Umunnakwe told newsmen that the Caretaker Committee Chairman was picked up at his Port Harcourt residence in the early hours of yesterday.
He said that the council boss was accused of allegedly ordering his loyalists to damage a bill board with the photograph of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“The caretaker committee chairman was arrested yesterday by the Rivers State police command. I called the Commissioner of Police and he confirmed to me that the council boss had been arrested. I pleaded with him to release the man. The chairman of Omuma caretaker committee is known to me and he is not a violent person. I don’t want to believe that he ordered the destruction of Jonathan’s billboard,” he said.
Grace Iringe, who spoke for the Police at press time, said she was not aware of the arrest.
