2015: Uduaghan is Delta South sole senatorial candidate — Ukori

Gov Uduaghan

Mr. Jude Ukori is a political leader and an administrator from Egbema Kingdom, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Ukori is presently the Executive Secretary of Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation EGCDF.
In this interview with selected newsmen, Ukori speaks on the senatorial ambition of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan come 2015 and other salient issues. Excerpt:

Your opinion of Governor Uduaghan’s senatorial ambition?
Without mincing words, he is the sole candidate for Delta South. I say so because nobody in the ruling People’s Democratic Party in Delta South would contest with him and by implication he is already the candidate of the party for the Senate. Even the opposition party has no candidate to challenge Governor Udaughan in the general elections.
The work is less for us now in PDP. We are mobilising for general elections after which  Governor Uduaghan will resume work at the Senate.

Before I forget, it will interest you to know that Governor Uduaghan, accepting to represent Delta South at the senate is one of the great things that will happen to the people of Delta South Senatorial District.
Uduaghan at the Senate will be of great benefit to the people of Delta South and Delta State in general. Those that will contest against him should prepare very well because his antecedents are great as well.

Are you saying all the nationalities are supporting the ambition ?
Yes, because the Itsekiris supported the Isoko people to produce Senator Stella Omu, and also the Itsekiri people supported the Ijaws to produce Senator James Manager. So, this time, both the Ijaws and Isoko people are supporting Uduaghan (an Istekiri) to represent the district come 2015, it is a clear understanding.

What are your observations as the governor completes his second term?
Lots had been achieved through him from 2007 till date. Remember, he cannot do everything; he can only do his best and leave the rest for the next government. However, what we are seeing on ground actually attests to the fact that Governor  Uduaghan has performed credibly well and I can assure that the people of Delta State are happy for him. We have experienced great change in the health sector.

Uduaghan revamped the health sector by initiating the Free Maternal Health Programme that was launched on 20th November, 2007. The services which initially included Ante-Natal Care, delivery, caesarean sections, as well as all essential laboratory tests had been expanded to include management of ectopic pregnancy and complications of abortions as well as blood transfusion services. The governor has done greatly well, and we are proud of him. So, I enjoin the people of Delta South to vote en-mass for him to emerge next Senator for  the district.

The opposition still accuse him of doing nothing?
The opposition criticising the governor to me is just natural. There is no way he satisfy the needs of everyone in Delta State.
