By Esther Onyegbula
Former Lagos State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Umar Manko, will tomorrow resume as the new Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos.
Manko took over from Mamman Ibrahim Tsafe who just resumed duty at the Nigeria Police headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja as Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Supply.
Manko has held sway in Lagos as a principal crime fighter and pundits believe that his reign coupled with the robust support of Governor Babatunde Fashola, has reduced the rate of crime in the state.
Manko was born on the 14th of June, 1958 in Bida Lo c a l G o v e r n me n t Area of Niger State, to the royal family of Wachinbe Moh’d Musa, a grandson of Etsu Mamman Suba, the 2nd Etsu Nupe of the Fulani dynasty of Nupe Kingdom and Hajiya Fatima Zakari.
