KOKO—ITSEKIRI and Ijaw political leaders in Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State, have brokered an accord on the chairmanship seat of the council for the October 25 polls in the state.

Vanguard was informed that the position of chairman has been conceded to the Itsekiri ethnic group and will rotate to the Ijaw in the next dispensation.

Following the development, the President of Egbema for Positive Change, Prince Ebe Fetimi, has declared as null and void the threat by Egbema Radical Group, ERG, to cause violence in the area if the chairmanship position was not ceded to the Ijaw.

He said political leaders from the two ethnic groups had met on the matter and taken far-reaching decisions, and though Egbema-Ijaw people were yet to be briefed by their leaders, who attended the meeting, there was no need for violence by any group.

ERG spokesman, Amin Dada, also confirmed to Vanguard that the group had withdrawn its threat following recent developments on the political scene.
