House-maid docked over murder of woman, 78

Lagos — Detectives from the Investigation Department of Lagos Command of Nigeria Police, Panti, Yaba, has charged 18-year-old house-maid, Hounvenou Christian- Yavine, before an Ebute-Metta Magistrate’s Court, for allegedly killing his mistress’ mother, who is 78.

The teenage maid, who is from Port Novo, Republic of Benin, was said to have killed the septuagenarian, Mariam Atinuke Abiola, by slitting her throat with a kitchen knife.
The incident was also said to have occurred on July 1, 2014, at about 2p.m., at the deceased daughter’s house, Block 74, Flat 4, Ijaiye Low Cost Housing Estate, Pen Cinema, in Agege area of the state.

It was also said that the teenager claimed to have killed the woman, following  incessant complaints by his mistress (name withheld), about the deceased.
The maid’s mistress was arrested, but was granted administrative bail by the police
The defendant was charged before Magistrate E. O. Ogunkanmi on a one-count charge of murder.
