The Nigeria Football Federation will decide whether to allow he League Management Company (LMC) to continue running the Premier League next week.
According to sources within the NFF, Saturday Sports Vanguard gathered that the Executive Committee of the NFF was considering returning the prganisation of the Nigerian top-flight to the Premier League board.
We learnt that a strong case for the dissolution of the Hon. Nduka Irabor-led LMC board was being spearheaded by the League Owners Association, who incidentally, had a meeting with the Minister of Sports and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Dr. Tamuno Danagogo in his Abuja office yesterday.
The case against the retention of the LMC, according to those championing its dissolution is that it was being run like a private business and not in line with the statutes of the NFF, an argument, which we gathered has been bought by some Executive Committee members of the NFF, who want the Premier League board to take over the affairs of the league.
But it was also learnt that the NFF was considering allowing the LMC to run the league till the end of the season before scrapping it.
“This is another option the NFF is considering and it sounds reasonable since the league is in week 21 and if the LMC is allowed to finish this season, then tit can be dissolved and then elections into the board of the NPL can hold afterward”, one source told us on condition of anonymity.
He added that the fate of the LMC will most likely be known on Monday when the Executive Committee meets in Abuja to also decide whether to suspend Hon. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande for anti-board activities, following his presence at an authorised meeting of some State FA chairmen in Abuja, where the impeachment of Aminu Maigari was reportedly quashed.
Kwande had apologised for his action but the Executive Committee, we learnt, was not satisfied with his response and was going to take a categorical stand on whether to suspend or forgive him..
