The federal Government has been urged to boost the education sector by establishing a special bank to enhance the development of that sector, as in the industrial and other sectors of the economy.
An educationist and Chairman, Diadem Group of Schools, Mr. Olapoju Oladinin, who made this suggestion while speaking at the graduation ceremony of Diadem College, Ifako, Lagos, said it was imperative for government to drive the education sector through drastic approach to complement the contribution of the private people investing in the education sector.
Mr. Oladinni further suggested that to properly drive the sector, government should evolve a policy that could compel commercial banks to grant loans at single digit interest rate to private investors, running colleges and universities to enable them provide qualitative education to the people through improvements of their facilities and other educational tools and input.
While he agreed government alone could not fund education, Oladinin said the private people in the sector should be well encouraged and supported by the government.
The educationist, whose group of schools include, Diadem College and Diadem Institute of Advance Studies, announced at the graduation ceremony of SS3 and JSS3 students that the future aspiration of Diadem group was to set up a university in the foreseeable future.
