IJAWicon and musical maestro, King Robert Ebizimor, who promoted the Niger-Delta struggle with his lyrics, is dead. Ebizimor from Bayelsa State died in a motor crash, in Warri, Delta State, with his driver on Thursday evening.
His vehicle reportedly rammed into a trailer and the duo died before they could be rushed to the Central Hospital, Warri, for medical attention.
Saturday Vangaurd gathered that the legendary musician, who survived a cancerous attack on his leg, was scheduled to hold a “survival party” at Agalabiri town, Bayelsa state, today (Saturday).
The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, in a statement, yesterday, by the spokesperson, Mr. Eric Omare, said, “To the IYC and the entire Ijaw nation, the death of King Robert Ebizimor is a huge loss and marks the end of a chapter of musical exploit in promoting the Niger-Delta struggle.”
“King Ebizimor used his music to hugely promote Ijaw struggle and created awareness all over Ijaw nation, especially those at the hinterland. He was one of the heroes of the Niger Delta struggle,” he said.
According to him, “The IYC commiserates with the entire Ebizimor family of Sagbama Local Government Area and the government and people of Bayelsa State on the death of the Ijaw icon.”
