By Nwabueze Okonkwo

ONITSHA— Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB and Igbo Ga-Adi Nma, yesterday, in Onitsha, Anambra State, engaged themselves in a war of words over who was the true defender of Ndigbo.

Although the remote cause of their grievances are yet to be ascertained, sources said both groups were fighting for the control of the commercial city and accusing each other  of extorting residents of the city.

However, the leadership of Igbo Ga- Adi Nma said its group was not illegal as alleged by MASSOB, but an organisation of credible, cultured and progressive Igbo men and women, youths, students, traders, artisans, and professionals, among others.

Coordinator of the group, Mr. Goodluck Oguejiofor, said:  “Igbo Ga- Adi Nma is a well oriented Igbo socio-cultural organisation established to protect, promote, project and enhance the dignity, integrity, cultural/political value of Ndigbo.

The statement read: “We don’t associate ourselves with criminalities, acts of violence or social vices as alleged by MASSOB. We advice MASSOB to first remove the dirty plank in their eyes before they can be acceptable in Igboland.”
