Financial inclusion: Capital Bancorp e-Trade to attract local investors

As part of its support to the financial inclusion policy introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Capital Bancorp Plc has said that its e-Trade platform was meant to encourage and attract more local investors to the nation’s capital market.

The company said that its e-trade platform is to further boost the transparency of its activities in the capital market.

Speaking at a press conference to commemorate one year anniversary of its e-Trade platform, Chairman, Capital Bancorp Plc, Mr. Tola Mobolurin said: “We need to revive the interest of local investors. So, that is why, we attach a lot of importance to things that would make it easier for investors to embrace the capital market and boost investment in Nigeria. The Bancorp e-Trade provides opportunities for all kinds of investors, but specifically we are targeting retail investors as we would also provide other platform for institutional investors.”

In his presentation of the e-Trade platform, Managing Director, Capital Bancorp Plc, Mr. Aigboje Higo, said “ The Bancorp e-Trade platform is an inventive retail stock broking on line service offering , carefully crafted to provide access to stockbroking services for the busy executive and upwardly mobile young adults.”

To this extent, he explained that it is a platform to encourage financial inclusion for the investing public through a user friendly and simple online interface.

According to him “It is about the ease of stockbroking transactions from the comfort of homes, offices as you are only a click away via your handheld, portable tablet or the good old computer system.

On why the company decided to embark on e-Trade platform, Higo said “We introduced this platform to leverage on today’s Information Technology (IT). It is also to make trading in shares /bonds more inclusive that is, capturing more of retail segment of the market. We want also to make trading in shares/bonds closer to everyone. Stockbroking office cannot be opened everywhere.
