Lagos—Lagos State Government yesterday sought the collaboration of the private sector to address the one million housing deficit in the state, even as Governor Babatunde Fashola named the Iloro Housing Estate after the late Olu of Agege, Oba Lateef Adams who died in 2011.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Fashola, said the decision to name the housing estate after the late Oba was to appreciate his immense and unforgettable contribution to development of state.
According to him, “The late Oba was like a pillar of support to our administration. He support me during campaign and after the election, he did not reneged.
”He was a great traditional ruler and we will miss his immense contribution.”
On the housing deficit, the governor said aim of the state government through the Lagos Home ownership Mortgage Scheme, Lagos HOMS was to reduce the housing deficit in the state, saying the scheme was to ensure that residents who were tenants in the state became home owners under the new housing scheme.
