The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State has chided the Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma, over what it described as his meddlesomeness in the politics of the state.

The party asked Chukwuma to design a platform where he would field candidates of his choice to contest elections instead of criticising its zoning policy in the state.
This was even as the leader of the Nsukka Zonal Awareness Forum, NZAF, Chief James Ugwu, described Chukwuma’s comments as not only dangerous, but that he would be seen as an enemy by all good sons and daughters of Enugu State.

Chairman of PDP, Chief Abba, who reacted to criticisms by Chukwuma over the zoning of the 2015 governorship position to Nsukka, dismissed the cleric’s comments, saying everybody was entitled to his or her opinion, saying “in our party, we have procedure to ensure equity and fair play while making choices for elections.”

Bishop Chukwuma, who briefed newsmen in Enugu last week, had called for the abandonment of the zoning arrangement which he said was undemocratic.
The NZAF leader, Chief Ugwu said: “Bishop Chukwuma did not raise any objection of this nature when it was the turn of the other two zones. Why is he against Nsukka zone? Is he insinuating that Nsukka zone is made up of incompetent people? Or is it that he hates them?

“That would be a position unbecoming of his personality as a Bishop.”
Reacting to the criticisms through a text message to Vanguard, Bishop Chukwuma said: ‘’Nsukka people should be serious and not wait for Governor Sullivan Chime. Nsukka people do not contribute to me, in anyway; so be careful.’’
