BENIN—PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers in the Edo State House of Assembly, yesterday, directed the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to as a matter of urgency, withhold all financial transactions through the various commercial banks handling the financial business of the state legislature until the resolution of the crisis rocking the House.

The PDP lawmakers made the call when they visited the state Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, at the party secretariat on Sapele Road, Benin-City, shortly after rising from their plenary at the Assembly complex.

Meanwhile, Chief Orbih has commended the PDP lawmakers and described their resolution as a far reaching decision.
He appealed to them to eschew all acts inimical to the growth and development of the state and the people.

“In all that you do as the acting Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, please put the interest of Edo people at heart. There is no need for acrimony. Put aside all other considerations and put the interest of Edo people at heart and first,” he said.

Ebea, who led other members on the courtesy visit, said the decision to visit the chairman of the party was to intimate him with the progressive resolution reached by the members at plenary, which he noted was in the interest of Edo people, whose mandate they represent.

He said that the PDP legislators would always ensure that they carry out their constitutional responsibilities.
