Abuja – World football governing body FIFA on Friday revoked the decision to provisionally ban German football legend Franz Beckenbauer.

The decision was revoked on Friday by the deputy chairman of FIFA’s independent Ethics Committee’s adjudicatory chamber, Alan Sullivan.

According to a FIFA statement, Sullivan had considered that it was appropriate at the time to impose provisional measures, having received the appropriate submissions.

“Sullivan, considering that a breach of the FIFA Code Ethics appeared to have been committed, concluded that all the conditions for the imposition of provisional measures were no longer fulfilled,’’ it said.

However, the deputy chairman warned Beckenbauer against a repetition or continuation of the conduct which led to the imposition of the provisional measure.

He said such act might give rise to further sanctions, including new provisional measures.

The statement said investigation proceedings opened by Michael Garcia and conducted by Vanessa Allard, which will determine whether Beckenbauer violated provisions of the FIFA Code of Ethics, were however on-going.(NAN)
