INEC official displays an empty ballot box

A pan-Yoruba socio-political pressure organization, Coalition of Oodua Self-Determination Groups (COSEG), has advised the PDP against any attempt to rig the election, warning that the consequence of such an attempt would not augur well for his government and the nation as a whole.

COSEG also threw its weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor John Kayode Fayemi for the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos, the National Chairman of the group, Dayo Ogunlana said “Any attempt at rigging Ekiti Governorship election will lead to serious uproar. The on-going insurgency in some northern parts of the country ought to have given concern to a responsive and responsible government and warn it against any other act that would be capable of putting the country in more trouble.”.

The group  stated that the attempted assassination on Dr. Kayode Fayemi on Sunday was an eye opener that has challenged COSEG and the people of Ekiti State to be prepared for June 21 battle.
“This is a challenge we shall face and as usual the people will win. We will not stay aloof and allow a thug or people with no value, dignity and credibility be foisted on our people in Ekiti, no, not in our region.

“COSEG, having diagnosed and evaluated the potentials, attributes and characters and records of performance of the candidates, found out that Dr. Kayode Fayemi is above all and the only candidate who can genuinely stand not only with Ekiti people but also with Yorubas at this difficult time in the history of Nigeria,” Ogunlana declared.
