APC-PDP
By GABRIEL ENOGHOLASE
BENIN— Leaders of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, in Benin, has dumped the party for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The defectors, from 10 wards of the council, were led by the former chairman of defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and APC in the council, Elder J. Aigbogun, who described PDP as “the only true democratic party” in the country.
He was joined by chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, women leaders and coordinators across the 10 wards of the council, including Mr. Victor Agbonle, Chief Peter Osagie, Mr. Alohan Jonathan, Mr. Taiye Osadere, Mr. Moses Arasomwan among others.
Providing reasons for leaving APC, Elder Aigbogun said that they could no longer remain in the party because the last congress had shown that the party was not built on political principles, as its leaders did not practice what they preached.
Aigbogun, who added that there would be more defections from APC in Egor council, promised to deliver the council to PDP, as he has always done.
While welcoming them, Edo State chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, said the defectors had taken a wise decision because they could see ahead that the time was up for APC in Edo State.
