CWG, Huawei to address African security challenges with IP surveillance

COMMITTED to proffering solution to the challenge of insecurity plaguing the society, Pan African ICT Company Computer Warehouse Group Plc (CWG), in collaboration with Huawei, ICT infrastructure manufacturers have deployed Internet protocol (IP) surveillance to address security challenges in the country and the rest of the African regions.

At an event with the theme, Detect and Curb Physical Security Threat in Your Environment, held recently in Lagos, security experts, IT professionals and other stakeholders examineed how the IP surveillance Technology could be exploited to provide security both for personal effects and corporate assets.

Earlier in his welcome address, Associate Vice President of Computer Warehouse Group Plc, Mr. AdedayoAbegunde told the participants that the event was aimed at bringing the IP surveillance technology to the fore as an answer to the challenge of insecurity facing the nation.

He explained to the participants the privilege of exploring the novel solutions the event affords.

In his presentation titled “Smart Technology, Enhance Security”, Huawei enterprise solution manager, Mr. Joseph Olayemi highlighted the features of the Intelligence Video Surveillance (IVS) surveillance solution. According to him, IP surveillance is a digitized and networked version of well-known closed-circuit television (CCTV).

He observed that the video surveillance systems have undergone significant changes, shifting from the earliest analogue surveillance to digital surveillance, which was prominent in the past few years, to the present burgeoning IP video surveillance.

He noted that there has been a gradual shift from the use of CCTV systems to the IP surveillance globally owing to its greater efficiency.
