In a bid to improve the health standards of Nigerians, a group of Nigerians under the auspices of Eko Atlanta Club based in Georgia weekend offered free medical services to residents of Alimosho and its environ.
Speaking at the flag- off of two –day health mission, Chairman, Alimosho Local Government, Honourable Isreal Adekunle said that finding ways of improving the health status of the ever increasing population has been a challenge to the local government area, hence, the need to partner with the Atlanta Club to provide community- based free healthcare services.
“The health mission is aimed at reaching members of the communities in Alimosho LGA, both men, women, infants, pregnant women, the elderly and indigents with pressing medical problems,” he stated.
Toyin Ola, President of Eko Club Atlanta, noted that the event is to give back to their community in Lagos. We choose Alimosho LGA because it is one of the largest local government areas in Lagos. Apart from providing free health care services and counseling from professionals, we are also distributing medication for individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure, fever, malaria asthma. We also have medication for children. This is to help people, who can’t afford their and touch their lives”.
Similarly, the Public Relations Officer, Eko Atlanta called on other Non- governmental organisation to be part of the exercise, noting that government cannot do it alone. “We need a lot of people, and organisations to come down and help. Our people need help; education on how to take care of themselves”. The highlight of the health mission was the presentation of a modern wheelchair
