….Enugu elders fault selection of state’s delegates

BY TONY EDIKE

Elders in Enugu State have strongly condemned the manner state delegates to  the National Conference in Abuja were selected, saying they were merely hand-picked by some powerful forces without any consultation with the interest groups.

The elders, under the aegis of Enugu State Development Association, ESDA, at a briefing in Enugu, weekend, leader of the group, Chief Enechi Onyia, SAN, described Enugu representation as unacceptable and unfortunate.

ESDA is made up of prominent Enugu State sons and daughters with like minds, including its founding fathers, who fought tirelessly for the creation of the state.

Onyia, who also spoke on plans for the burial programme of one of its respected leaders and traditional ruler of Nara Unateze Kingdom, late Igwe Nathan Ogbu, regretted that such sensitive list of delegates was compiled by a clique without any consultation or recourse to how the people felt about their representation at the conference.
