OWERRI — The political fortunes of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State, again dipped, yesterday, following the exit of Chief Felix Idiga and his over 15,000 supporters to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Addressing his supporters and chieftains of the PDP in his Amaifeke, Orlu country home, Idiga said the event marked the end of an era and the beginning of another phase.

“This is the beginning of a new dawn. In every circumstance, one must know when to adjust so as to advance. I have decided to adjust so as to advance the interest of the good people of Orlu zone in particular and Imo in general,” Idiga explained.

While regretting his absence during the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to Owerri where he received Chief Achike Udenwa and others into the PDP family, Idiga said his senatorial ambition was still intact.

He said:  “My senatorial ambition is still intact and will be pursued on PDP platform. We must do everything possible to keep the zone in the mainstream of Nigerian politics.”

Meanwhile, some APC loyalists, who spoke to Vanguard on the continued defection of prized chieftains of APC to the PDP family, blamed the development on the leadership style of Governor Rochas Okorocha.

Although they opted to speak on grounds of anonymity, they however, opined that most people of strong political values had defected to PDP, adding that more were still preparing to quit APC.
