Prominent indigenes of Delta State have hailed Mr. Godwin Emefiele for his impressive performance at the Senate screening, where his nomination as the next governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, was confirmed.

Meanwhile, friends, colleagues and family members have expressed gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan for nominating him and the Senate for the speedy confirmation of Emefiele as the governor-designate of the country’s apex bank.

Executive Vice Chairman of ExxonMobil and Odogwu of Onicha Ugbo, Dr. Emmanuel Kachikwu, said: “I am confident that given his pedigree, that he will bring unique innovations and a dogged focus on purposeful leadership to his present call to duty as the CBN governor.”

Former House of Representatives member, Prince Ned Nwoko, said: “We salute the courage of President Jonathan for picking out one of the brilliant minds in the nation’s banking sector to head the apex bank and participate in the transformation of the economy into a strong private sector-led free market system.”

Also member of House of Reps, Mr. Ndudi Elumelu, said: “We cannot take the good gesture extended to Delta State for granted especially at a time when the people of Delta North earnestly deserve to contribute their quota to the consolidation of the process of economic reconstruction and the gains of the transformation agenda.”

On his part, Director of Pan African University, Prof. Pat Utomi, said: “The CBN’s governor designate has solid academic and professional background that does not give the luxury to fail. He also comes from a culture where people who are given this rare opportunity to such top job cannot afford to disappoint. It is a culture that demands diligence at all time. So we wish him well and expect him to excel and write his name in gold.”

Former Delta State Commissioner for Finance Mr. Bernard Okumagba, said  that the appointment of Emefiele has been well received in the financial sector, as investors and key economic actors expect the new CBN governor to have a firm grip of the nation’s macroeconomic policies, which would determine his success as the next occupant of that office.
