An Ayede/Ogbese Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a surety, Ola Liberty, 30, in Olokuta prison for using a digital camera to record its proceedings.
Chief Magistrate Odenusi Fadeyi ordered that the surety be kept in jail till Thursday.
Fadeyi said the action of the surety was against the rules of the court unless permission was granted.
“You cannot just film me without consent, especially when the court is in session.
“It is contempt of court which attracts punishment,” she said.
Liberty had expressed regrets at his action, saying that he was not aware of the court rules.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Liberty had stood as surety for an accused person arraigned for stealing a motorcycle valued at N119,000. (NAN)
