The arrow Head of Oodua People Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams has disclosed that Nigeria needs to restore its cultural heritage to ensure a formidable peaceful co-existence.

Gani who made this disclosure during a courtesy visit by key members of the Igbo World Union (IWU) at his Onipanu Lagos office, admitted that most of the ethnicities in the country are gradually losing grip of their cultural steam, including the Yoruba land.

According to the OPC arrow head, “Nigeria needs to urgently institute more culturally based organizations, to assist cultural festivities like the Olokun Festival/Cultural Foundation and Igbo World Union (IWU) to take conscious steps toward cultural restoration in the country”.

“A proper application of this objective is a strong force in the unity of a people, because nations can use culture to mobilize, upgrade, tap or harness the potentials of its citizens.

And as a typical traditionalist, I enjoin all to embrace culture and spirituality in order to succeed.”

The President General of IWU Chief (Dr.) Mishak Nnanta who led the delegation solicited the support of the OPC leader in ensuring a united nation, through cultural rebirth and peaceful co-existence, while promising a partnership that would create a capacity of rebuilding the country’s socio-cultural attributes.

In pledging his unreserved support, Otunba Adams, declared that the partnership will create a capacity of ensuring a formidable socio-cultural group which in turn would assist in rebuilding Nigeria, to which he confessed, was the strength of his OPC group.

He also noted the importance of gaining the support of the people as well as that of the ancestors, therefore, urged IWU leaders to complement their physical struggles with spiritual warfare in order to progress both physically and spiritually in the goal of achieving cultural rebirth and a new sense of unity among Ndigbo.

He further warned them against meddling cultural issues with politics, as getting involved in high class politics otherwise known as partisan politics is dangerous for cultural organisations they both represent ,” he added.
