UMUAHIA—ABIA State government has commended the United States government for lifting the travel ban previously imposed on the state on account of insecurity.
The US government had imposed a travel ban on Abia and a few other states in the country as a result of poor security situation, including kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The government’s gratitude was expressed yesterday in Umuahia by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Theodore Orji, Charles Ajunwa.
Ajunwa said U.S citizens could now travel to Abia and neighbouring states to do business, following improvement in security.

He said Abia State government was happy with the development, noting that Governor Orji had done very well in the area of security and peaceful co-existence.
According to him, the lifting of the ban is a clear testimony that Orji’s administration has done a lot to boost security in the state.
