ABUJA—The Middle Belt Reconnaissance, MBR, has said that President Goodluck Jonathan would beat the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the North to emerge a clear winner in the 2015 presidential polls.
Speaking in an interview at the weekend, coordinator of the group, Mr. Kuanum Terrence, said his group was already mobilising the minorities of the North to vote massively for the President.

According to him, the interest of the Middle Belt will be better served under President Jonathan’s administration.
He said: “There will be a shocker in 2015. We the minorities of this country have decided that Jonathan must contest in 2015 because what he is doing in the development of this country, it is only a minority that can do it. It is only a minority that can feel the pain of oppression that we have borne over the years.

“Jonathan has given us hope,  that a minority can rise to occupy any position, even the highest position in this country, the Presidency.
“Rising from a humble background to occupy the highest seat in the country gives minorities hope that they can attain the highest position in the land. He has given the minorities hope and we are going to stand solidly behind Jonathan as Middle Belt Reconnaissance and make sure that he wins a second term.

“We are going to mobilise the minorities of this country to support him; to know that he is a minority like them and that their fate is tied to his. Whatever affects him, affects them.
“We are going to go round to mobilise the people and tell them that the challenge is not just for Jonathan or Ijaw, Tiv, Tarok- all minorities must stand together to defeat those who believe that they must oppress the minorities.  “They must come out to support this democracy that President Jonathan has sustained.”
