Lagos — FORMER Deputy National Chairman, South, of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George, has vowed not to seek legal redress over the events that led to his conviction by a Lagos High Court.
He also pledged to ensure the restructuring of the PDP in South-West region just as he urged warring factions to sheathe their swords for peace to reign.
George said this on arriving the country, weekend, through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, after holidaying abroad for two months.
The party chieftain, who recently had the sentence passed on him in respect of contract splitting by both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal while he was chairman, Board of Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, reversed by the Supreme Court, was received by party chieftains and loyalists as his plane touched down at around 6p.m. on Saturday.
Those on hand to receive Chief George, included the state chairman of PDP, Captain Tunji Shelle; other state officers of the party, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Prince Remi Akitoye and Chief Aduke Maina, BoT member, among others.
George said: “I want to first of all thank God the Almighty for making today a special day because for five years, it had been a dark cloud.
“I also want to thank God that eventually, the truth has been revealed because it was not a matter of the judgement.”
In its reaction, the Lagos State chapter of PDP expressed excitement over the return of George to the country after a relatively long stay in the United Kingdom, saying the return came after his acquittal of by the Supreme Court.
State Chairman of the party, Captain Shelle, said in a statement that, “the return of Chief Bode George will further add impetus to our now unstoppable movement to win the next governorship election.
